Recreation Maintenance Worker

Botetourt County is accepting applications to fill a full-time maintenance worker position in the Parks and Recreation Depart­ment.  Preferred qualifica­tions in­clude experience and operation of equipment associated with land­scaping and grounds maintenance. Examples of this work include mowing, trimming, pruning, raking, and shoveling. This position will work primarily Mon-Fri 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Some evening or weekend duty may be required. This position requires working outdoors and the ability to perform moderate to strenuous physical activity throughout the work day. Appli­cants must possess a valid Virginia driver’s license and a good driving record.

Starting salary: $22,860 with an excellent benefits package

Botetourt County Employment Application


Library Assistant

Botetourt County Library is currently seeking a full-time employee to fill the position of Library Assistant at the Fincastle branch. Duties for this position include providing service to library patrons at the circulation desk such as checking materials in and out, shelving, assisting with the internet, and providing information as requested. Applicants should be willing to work one evening per week and occasional Saturdays as needed. Applicants should also be willing to substitute as a bookmobile driver when needed.

 

Minimum education requirement is a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additional education and library experience are a plus but not required.

Starting salary: $21, 775 with an excellent benefits package

Tourism Communication & Marketing Intern

Botetourt County has an immediate opening for the position of Communication & Marketing Intern in our Department of Tourism. This is a part-time, un-paid position with flexible scheduling.

This position requires:

Proficiency with:

  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Adobe Creative Suite a plus
  • Providing clerical and administration support

Thorough Knowledge of:

  • Demonstrated marketing research and the ability to perform online research
  • Assisting in event coordination
  • Assisting with familiarity tours and display setup
  • Brochure inventory and distribution
  • Data collection and maintenance through spreadsheets

The Ability to:

  • Prepare verbal and written presentations
  • Excellent oral, communication, follow-up, and organizational skills
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships
  • Courteously and enthusiastically greet the general public
  • Perform assigned job duties by the Tourism staff in a timely manner

Volunteering

  • Recreation

The Recreation Department is continually looking for dedicated volunteers to support its various programs and activities. The County utilizes volunteers to support parks and playing fields, coach youth sports teams, and promote its many programs. Additionally, the County works collectively with seven booster clubs in the area made up entirely of volunteers, which support and organize local youth sports leagues.
