The Office of Human Resources serves as the first point of contact for prospective Botetourt County employees. We are responsible for coordinating the hiring process for all departments and offices that fall under the Botetourt County Board of Supervisors.

Planning and Zoning Intern (temporary)

Botetourt County is accepting applications for a summer intern to work with our Planning and Zoning Department.  The intern will provide professional support for the department with daily activities, short and long term planning projects.

The postion will work approximately 20 - 30 hours per week.  Standard work hours will be between  8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. weekdays, with flexibility for the days worked each week; occassional weekday evening work may be required.

Starting pay: $12.00 per hour

Tourism Communication and Digital Marketing Specialist

The Botetourt County Office of Tourism is seeking a candidate to fill a full-time position of Tourism Communication and Digital Marketing Specialist. The position is primarily responsible for the development, implementation, and content management of tourism related websites, online calendars, newsletters, and social media platforms. This position also serves as a resource for various special events and other tourism related initiatives, including the development of tourism related inventory and the promotion of Botetourt County and its affiliated partners to increase visitor traffic to the County.

A college degree with an emphasis in marketing, communications, public relations, event coordination or a closely related field with experience in the tourism, travel, event or hospitality industry is preferred.

Starting pay: $34,500-$38,000, DOQ, with comprehensive benifits package

Library Assistant - Circulation (Part-time)

Botetourt County Library is seeking a part-time Library Assistant for the Blue Ridge Library location.  Responsibilities include mostly public service functions such as checking materials in and out, shelving, processing materials in transit, helping patrons with computer questions and other duties as needed.   Position requires working two mornings a week and up to two Saturdays a month. Average weekly hours will range from 9 to 15. Ability to fill in at times when other employees are out is desired. Candidates must have at least a high school diploma.

Utility Maintenance Worker

Botetourt County has an immediate opening for a Utility Maintenance Worker. This is a full-time position with an excellent benefits package. Position requires knowledge of equipment, pumps, and procedures involving construction and maintenance of water and sewer facilities and manual labor. Backhoe experience is a plus. Must possess valid Class A CDL or be able to secure within 6 months of employment. Pre-employment physical and drug screening required.

Starting salary $25,906 to $30,000, DOE.

Volunteering

  • Recreation

The Recreation Department is continually looking for dedicated volunteers to support its various programs and activities. The County utilizes volunteers to support parks and playing fields, coach youth sports teams, and promote its many programs. Additionally, the County works collectively with seven booster clubs in the area made up entirely of volunteers, which support and organize local youth sports leagues.
