Utility Maintenance Worker

Botetourt County has an immediate opening for a Utility Maintenance Worker. This is a full-time position with an excellent benefits package. Position requires knowledge of equipment, pumps, and procedures involving construction and maintenance of water and sewer facilities and manual labor. Backhoe experience is a plus. Must possess valid Class A CDL or be able to secure within 6 months of employment. Pre-employment physical and drug screening required. Starting salary $25,906 to $30,000, DOE.

Library Assistant (Temporary)

Botetourt County Library is seeking a temporary part-time Library Assistant for the Eagle Rock Library. The person hired for this job would likely work for a period of four to six months beginning no later than November 1. Job would average 20 hours of work per week. A person in this position is responsible for providing general library services to the public. Duties include assisting patrons with borrowing and returning materials, keeping materials shelved and in good order, assisting patrons in using the library catalog and computers and other duties as assigned. Must be available to work until 7 PM on at least three weekdays and also from 9:30 to 2:00 on Saturdays. Minimum salary is $7.30 per hour.

Desktop Support Technician I

Salary Range: $27,914.00 – $42,426.00, DOE

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Strong PC background with 1-2 years of experience administering and troubleshooting Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 operating systems
  • General knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and understanding of best practices
  • Working knowledge of troubleshooting utilities, TCP-IP tools, virus/malware detection applications, and TCP/IP printing
  • Exceptional customer service orientation and follow through on assignments is critical

Education:

Minimum of Associates Degree in Information Systems or related technical field preferred and 1-2 years professional experience required or any combination of education and experience. Professional certifications including A+, Network+, or Linux+ preferred but not required.

Utility Distribution System Operator

Botetourt County is accepting applications for a full-time and part-time Utility Distribution System Operator to work in the operation, maintenance and repair of water and wastewater facilities and other utility facilities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations and ordinances. This position is subject to 24-hour on call and may work varied shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.

 

Applicants must hold at minimum Class IV Water Works Operator license or Wastewater Operator license; 2 years experience preferred; must possess a valid Virginia Driver’s License, have and maintain a good driving record.  An employee in this position is subject to and must pass a pre-employment medical physical, pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and will be subject to future random drug and alcohol screening.

Volunteering

  • Recreation

The Recreation Department is continually looking for dedicated volunteers to support its various programs and activities. The County utilizes volunteers to support parks and playing fields, coach youth sports teams, and promote its many programs. Additionally, the County works collectively with seven booster clubs in the area made up entirely of volunteers, which support and organize local youth sports leagues.
